ARTikulationen 2020
810 October
2020
ARTikulationen is a festival of artistic research at the Doctoral School for Artistic Research at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Graz, combining presentations of doctoral research with discussions of select topics. This year’s presenters are Daniela Braun, Janhavi Dhamankar, Patrick Gusset, Jessica Kaiser, Susanne Scholz, Marcio Steuernagel, and Karin Wetzel. Our doctoral students present the results or advances of the past year(s), with Karin Wetzel’s presentation being for the final year viva voce (Rigorosum).
ARTikulationen 2020 will be a hybrid (online and local) event. True to tradition, some of the presentations will feature live performances, and most of them examples of recorded materials. Instead of keynotes and panel discussions, there are two novelties this year in response to the virus-forced online-aspect of the event.
The first is the Intermezzo format, in which nonverbal reflections of specific artistic research in the form of “Songs Without Words” are first streamed and then discussed. The three Intermezzi of one hour duration each are dedicated to last year’s topic: reflection through music. We invited nonverbal reflections for a first attempt at engaging through action with what has been a central riddle in the discourse and understanding of artistic research. Elina Akselrud, Magdalena Chowaniec, Lorelei Dowling, Adela Liculescu, Feliz Reyes Macahis and Jakob Stillmark are the contributors.
The second novelty is a series of feedback sessions for each doctoral student with their supervisory and advisory team. These sessions are a rare opportunity for concentrated group exchange on the project status and will take place 30 minutes after each respective presentation and discussion. For those who can be here locally, MuMuTh Proberaum is the main space. Please contact Talieh Attarzadeh for more information regarding registration for both online and local participation.
Itinerary info for supervisors and advisors
Right after the presentation and discussion of each doctoral project the respective external advisors and internal supervisors will jointly meet in the Kleinen Saal (2nd floor) of the Palais Meran and in a dedicated Zoom breakout-room. We then have 25 minutes for each evaluation, then a 5 minute break, followed by a 25 minute feedback session with the examined doctoral student. Please make sure you can attend with ample leeway in case of (unlikely) technical issues. Note for the evaluations will be sent shortly to advisors and supervisors.
Those of you joining online please make sure you have headsets & a good (ideally cable) internet connection available.
