At the ARTikulationen 2018, 10 doctoral students will present their research projects in the Florentinersaal, MUMUTH Proberaum and the Orangerie im Burggarten from October 4 – 6.: one rigorosum/doctoral defense by Joel Diegert, plus 9 presentations from doctoral students from KUG/ZHdK, the Orpheus Institute Ghent and Malmö Academy of Music: Florian Bogner, Roxanne Dykstra, Artemi Gioti, Lula Romero, Emiliano Sampaio, Halla Steinunn Stefansdottir (Malmö Academy of Music), Raimund Vogtenhuber, Anne Veinberg (Orpheus Institute), and Karin Wetzel.
Next to the presentations of the doctoral students, there will also be an overarching topic for discussion this year: Experimenting Musically. The topic will be addressed in two keynotes and discussed in three panels, and for the first time, we now have two ARTikulationen-sessions in collaboration with the Graz contemporary music festival musikprotokoll (called musikprotokoll@ARTikulationen): Chaya Czernowin’s keynote (adjacent to the musikprotokoll performance of her Knights of the strange) and a discussion on experimenting musically with Fred Frith and others. And, continuing last year’s alumni-presentations, alumna Dr.art Dorothea Seel — who very recently joined the KWDS-team as Senior Scientist — will present her latest work and her book which has a few days ago been accepted for publication.
